    Set in year 1799, you are invited to the recreation of this famous celebration of Washington’s Birthday. The evening includes an 18th century banquet, English country dancing, dessert collation, character re-enactors, and General and Mrs. George Washington. Period costume optional, “after-five” attire encouraged. 5:30pm. $100 per person. Reservations required.

    Historic Mount Vernon celebrates George Washington’s 276th birthday Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17 with patriotic early-American music,  and Washington’s favorite breakfast – “the General” himself joins visitors to partake of “hoecakes swimming in butter and honey” cooked over an open fire (while supplies last). Be sure to catch “America’s Smallest Hometown Parade” at 1:30 p.m., when the fife & drum corps, early-American music and adorable heritage- breed animals march past “General Washington”, the Mansion and around the circle drive for all to see.

    Celebrate the national observance of George Washington’s birthday by visiting his home and burial site FREE on this day. “America’s Smallest Hometown Parade” will line up at 1:30 p.m. with its fife and drum corps, 18th-century music, farm animals, and “General Washington” on the grounds to greet visitors and receive birthday wishes. The traditional wreathlaying ceremony at Washington's Tomb by the Military District of Washington takes place followed by patriotic music and military performances on the Bowling Green by the United States Third Infantry - the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the Commander-in-Chief’s Guard.
