Film Application

Before casting calls, lighting checks and hair and make-up, make sure your flick is legit. Whether a major summer blockbuster or a one-person summer project, start the permitting process here.

Deadlines: Film applications should be submitted at least SIX (6) business days in advance to allow for processing.


Location: This application covers filming on public property within the city of Alexandria. Filming on private property must be arranged with property owners separately and is not covered by this application and permit.

Costs: The application and permitting process is FREE. Additional costs may be incurred for reserved parking, street and sidewalk closures and security.

Process: Fill out the application as accurately and as detailed as possible to make the process quicker. You will be contacted in a few days and notified of the status of the permit and if any additional permitting will be required.
