  • Nearly half of the visitors to Alexandria live within a half a day's drive of the city, led by residents of New York (12%), Washington, D.C. (6%) and Norfolk, Va. (6%). Residents of Philadelphia (4%); Boston (3%); Los Angeles (3%); Richmond-Petersburg, Va. (3%); Baltimore (2%); and Raleigh-Durham (2%) round out the top markets.

  • With an average age of 46, Alexandria visitors are similar in age to the average U.S. traveler.

  • The median household income is $80,000. A quarter of visitors make more than $100,000 and 40% with a household income of less than $50,000.
