I love great fashion and also enjoy finding it at an amazing bargain. My friends' husbands get a little nervous when we go shopping, because we come back with lots of great finds. I am always blamed!

What is your claim to fame?
Probably my shopping savvy -- and addiction!  I love great fashion and also enjoy finding it at an amazing bargain.  When my friends go shopping with me their husbands get a little nervous because their wives always come home with lots of shopping bags.  And I am always to blame!

I also enjoy writing and occasionally write a column titled "The Chronicles of Diva" on the website www.localkicks.com.

What makes you original and unique?
Probably being able to see the positive but realistic side of most situations.

Who or what inspired you to come to Alexandria?
I've lived many places in the US, but there is only one Alexandria.  There is such a unique flavor to the city due to the many independent retailers and restaurants, as well as great galleries and antique havens.  I wanted Diva to be a boutique with a comfortable, almost European style, and found the perfect location in an 1880's townhome.  Others suggested Georgetown, but Alexandria was always my only consideration.

What is your secret to success?
Keeping the business focused yet new and fresh, listening to customers and giving them the best possible customer service we can.

What is your proudest achievement?
It was an amazing honor for Diva to be named the Chamber of Commerce's "New Business of the Year 2007."  I was also thrilled to win the Alexandria Office on Women's "Rising Star" award for 2008.

Do you have a favorite Alexandria travel tip?
My tip is for visitors to explore the side streets as well as King Street. Some of the most unique and interesting businesses are located off the main drag!  And to be sure to hit South Pitt Street (Diva's location!).  Also check out the stores in the Old Town Boutique District.

Best date idea in Alexandria?
There are so many great restaurants which appeal to any palate and pocketbook that you can't go wrong here.  And it is only going to get better as the City grows.

Favorite places to go for brunch, happy hour, dinner under the stars, lunch deals, and places to take your dog?
I love the crabcake appetizer at Jackson 20 in the Hotel Monaco. They also have a tasty Bloody Mary.

As far as lunch, I never really get to go because I am at the store, but our customers frequent -- and highly recommend -- the "Lickety Split" lunch at Restaurant Eve.  It's a great deal with equally great food.

My dachshunds  are Tasmanian devils, so they pretty much hang out around home, but since almost all businesses welcome dogs in the City they can go anywhere in Alexandria that people can!

If you had friends visiting Alexandria what would you tell them to do and see during their visit?
I'd tell them to visit some of the historic sites in the City...as well as taking a candlelight tour.

And since most of my friends love shopping, I would give them a map of the Old Town Boutique District and set them loose!
