
This first-class outdoor art gallery with over 200 artists and $15 million in artwork for sale will be in Alexandria on September 10-11, 2011 making it the ninth year of this popular event in Alexandria.
During the two-day Festival of the Arts, King Street will be transformed into a world-class outdoor art gallery when the festival booths line King Street between S. Washington Street and Union Street Streets - over six blocks of artwork!
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The festival is FREE and open to the public.

Old Town Alexandria: on King Street, between Washington Street and the waterfront
King Street in historic Old Town will come to life with a wide variety of original fine art by artists from around the country. Bright, bold and even whimsical, the unique works of art on display offer festival goers a vast array of mediums that appeal to a variety of tastes and include paintings, life size sculptures, photography, glass, wood, jewelry, collage and ceramics. The prices are set to suit all budgets and range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $30,000 metal sculptures. Admission is free and open to the public.
A selection of participating artists will be honoring the memory of the victims and heroes during the 10th anniversary of September 11th by exhibiting artwork inspired by the tragedy. These artists were deeply moved and expressed their outrage, feelings of loss and deep sorrow through their art creating magnificent and moving works of art they will display in their individual booths throughout the weekend.

The Art League and the Torpedo Factory Art Center present the "Alexandria Art Experience," a local village at the Alexandria Festival of the Arts. Through artist-led, hands-on, creative activities, and a fun ceramics fundraiser these tents share the enriching experience of the arts community in Alexandria.
Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser. Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Ice Cream Bowl Fundraiser supporting The Art League Ceramics Department presents a delicious way to support the arts. Select a unique handmade ceramic bowl created by the talented artists of The Art League's Ceramics Department and get a bowl of ice cream from ACKC Cocoa Bar to enjoy at the festival.
Hands-On Activities: Make Art! Saturday 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. to 1 pm. and 2 to 4 p.m. The Art League will present a dynamic hands-on activity for kids and adults. Please check back for activity times.
Button Art. On Saturday only, from 12 to 3:30 p.m. The Torpedo Factory Art Center will hand out components for a button badge that can be designed collage-style. Participants will bring their badge components to the Torpedo Factory on the waterfront to collect a variety of colorful bits and create their own piece of flair.
Q-ART Code Scavenger Hunt. On Saturday only, from 12 to 3:30 p.m. Smart phone users will have a blast on this unique scavenger hunt which begins at the Alexandria Art Experience booth. From there, clues will lead participants through the art festival and end at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Those that complete the scavenger hunt will be able to enter to win a special prize.

Autumn Serenade on Market Square

Presented by the Alexandria Singers, the Washington area's "Premier Pops Chorus," this concert features exciting selections of American popular music, including Broadway, film, jazz and pop; from Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" to Toto's "Africa!" Engaging choreography and great accompanying instrumentalists are hallmarks of the Singers. The Singers welcome featured guests in this performance, including ensembles from the Alexandria Harmonizers and DC's Singing Capital Chorus, two of the area's top a cappella organizations, as well as Karen Reedy Dance. The show is part of Kaleidoscope, a celebration of visual and performing arts from Labor Day to Halloween presented by the Alexandria Arts Forum and Access through the Arts.
